“My objective for the SIRCA Bootcamp is to transform the empiric analysis section of my SIRCA II project into a Journal Paper draft. I hope to bring a very basic draft (more specifically a selection of several sections /paragraphs). The paper will discuss the effects of e-skills on occupational achievements (Y=white collar ones), using a logistic regression model in which the relation of the Y variable and the e-skills is controlled by several other key regressors for the occupational achievements (socioeconomic inequalities, educational pathways, gender, etc.)”
Sebastián Benítez Larghi

“My paper is in the state of data analysis and writing. It will be useful if we can work together on the analysis of the result and put them in dialogue with the literature on Digital and social inequalities and define a dissemination plan of the results.”

Elinor May Cruz

“My draft journal paper contains the findings of two case study sites on cybersex, as well as responses from stakeholders at the national and local levels. I want to discuss and ensure ethical dissemination of these findings in the form of a journal article publication.”

Fabro Steibel

“My draft journal paper, co-written with collaborator Elsa Estevez, is on the impact of online consultation portals in e-rulemaking. We have been looking at case studies from Brazil to suggest best practices to create platforms for e-rulemaking where forms of governance enhance principles of democratic theory.
You can read a draft of the paper here.”
Ezmieralda Melissa

“At the moment, the paper is still an early draft and it is not complete. I definitely would like to receive feedback on the overall writing of the paper. However, I particularly would like to learn about quantitative data gathering and analysis as I am not very familiar with this method. In addition, it would also be great if there is a discussion about how to spread our research impact to policy makers as this is something that I have started with my research results and would like to continue in the near future.”

Kabran Djane

“My paper highlights the socio-system of truck drivers in the development of foods distribution in Soubre and Korhogo and their links to mobile phone with others stakeholders. It explores in one side, a deeper understanding of the ‘chain of grandmother’ which development was based on social construction made by truck drivers before the appearance of mobile phone, in Côte d’Ivoire. I’m looking for help with the literature review and writing.”

Andrea Ordóñez

“My paper will use the case of coffee producers in Ecuador to challenge the implicit connection that exists currently between ICT and the Knowledge Economy. The case exemplifies that ICTs are not enough to generate knowledge, and that in fact, they now coexist in an environment where there is no new knowledge being generated, and where ICTs are used for other purposes. This might help inspire a new way to think about the Natural Knowledge Economy. “

Achille Tefong

“My research project aims to provide robust empirical evidence that could inform ICT policies for private sector development in low-income countries in general, and in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) in particular. I would like to work on the aspect of writing of this paper since it considers studies from many countries.”

Paz Olivera Rodríguez

“Our paper is based on research conducted with 440 students and 17 teachers in Peruvian schools. What we want to state in the paper is that working hand-by-hand with the teachers will let them work in a better way with ICTE. What I would like to work on during the Bootcamp is the literature review which will help me to discuss the data.”

Baohua Zhou

“This paper is an ongoing work to analyze the survey data that I have collected in Shanghai, China on ICTs and daily lives of new generation migrant workers. It will examine the social interactions of these migrant workers and the role of ICTs. I want to make better sense of empirical data collected in China, have a more international/comparative angle and get more inspiration for further research.”

Rajesh Chandwani

“The project provides opportunity to develop a paper on methodological aspects of analysing multimedia data. We want to highlight how the multimedia data can be used to bring back the ‘context’ in the analysis of data in ICT interventions. The paper is in the preliminary state. We have written an extended abstract. We would like to be guided on how to develop it as a full paper.”

Nikos Dacanay

“The research looked at notions of empowerment in the use of mobile phones and Internet by migrant ethnic women organizations in Chiang Mai and Mae Sot, two towns in northern Thailand that have one of the highest concentrations of ethnic migrants from Burma. I would like some help on the literature review and structuring of the paper.”

Stephen Kimani

“My paper is in the preliminary stages of writing. In the bootcamp, I wish to work on the literature review about trends in Internet access and usage (including Internet activities) among university students globally and in Africa. I want help with preparing and organizing content describing the design of the study we conducted, and presenting and discussing the findings with specific focus on the emerging prioritization of online communication and keeping in touch online with friends.”
