ICT and Welfare policies: Digital skills’ impact on formal education and labor market trajectories of young uruguayans evaluated by PISA 2003 (Panel study)

Matías Dodel is a Sociologist (B.A. at Universidad Católica del Uruguay or UCU), Psychologist (B.A. at Psychology Faculty from Universidad de la República or UdelaR) and Magister in Sociology -Candidate- (at Departamento de Sociología, Facultad de Ciencias Sociales from UdelaR) who specializes in Information Society, Public Policy and Poverty/Inequality issues. Researcher at Research Institute on Integration, Poverty and Social Exclusion (IPES) since 2007, he also teaches Methodology and Statistical Software packages at UCU´s Social Sciences B.A.s and Methodology at Clinical Psychology M.A. on the same University. Simultaneously, since 2009 he has been working as expert Sociologist on Information Society and Electronic Government at the National E-government and Information Society Agency (AGESIC) of the Uruguayan government presidency. Having won several research funds including “Fondo Concursable Carlos Filgueira 2009” from the Social Development Ministry over studying the “Estrategias familiares para el cuidado de niños menores de 2 años” and “Certamen FAD” for updating the statistical software user manuals at UCU, he also is an usual lecturer on local Sociology congresses about Social Psychology and Information Society. Besides that, he has collaborated on the academic book “Panorama de la Vejez en el Uruguay” and co-authored “Los valores en Uruguay: tendencias y cambios”. |
| Abstract | The research aims to generate knowledge regarding the impact of ICT on welfare by assessing digital skills effect in the formal education and labor market trajectories of young Uruguayans. Multivariate statistical models will be elaborated using microdata from the first follow-up Panel study of students evaluated by PISA 2003. His research outline is found here. |
