Jonathan Donner (Dr.)

Dr. Jonathan Donner is Researcher in the Technology for Emerging Markets Group at Microsoft Research, India. He obtained his BA in History in Amherst College and earned his Master and Ph.D. in Communication Theory and Research at Stanford University. His primary research interest is on the economic and social implications of the spread of mobile telephony in the developing world. He is recently involved in the project of using ICT for commerce and mobile-banking and has done fieldwork in East Africa and South Asia. One of his recent publications is his new book Mobile Communication, authored together with another researcher Rich Ling, which presents an overview of the mobile telephone as a social and cultural phenomenon.
