Pre-Conference Themes

We invite academic papers focusing on the social scientific understanding of mobile communication, including the following themes:

• Social impacts of mobile phones use
• Mobile communication for development
• Trends in mobile media systems and social contexts
• Public sphere, social networks, and mobile communication
• Mobile communication policy and regulation
• Mobile broadband
• Theoretical and methodological perspectives on mobile communication research

The proposed preconference delivers continuity to a tradition established at ICA South Korea 2002. The present organizers undertook to take over organizational duties from the previous organizer LIRNEasia at the summary concluding session at ICA Chicago 2009. We expand the perspective to expose global mobile scholars to ICTD within the Asian research context to take advantage of the conference location in Singapore.
