Ezmieralda Melissa is the lecturer in the Department of Communication and Public Relations at Swiss German University. Apart from lecturing Communication subjects, she is also an active member of The Association of Indonesian Translators (HPI). Ezmieralda obtained her Bachelor of Communication (in Business) from Bond University, Australia and her Master of Arts (in Global Media Communication) from The University of Melbourne, Australia. Ezmieralda’s research interests include new media technologies, representation of minorities in the media, and media, nationalism and democracy.

| Abstract | The Internet can open up windows of opportunity for many people, including for promotional activities. By studying women online entrepreneurs living in Indonesian urban areas, this project will investigate the social and cultural implications of the Internet in empowering women by enabling them to open up businesses from home.
