Dr. Czarina Saloma-Akpedonu is Director of the Institute of Philippine Culture and Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ateneo de Manila University. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Universität Bielefeld, Germany and specializes in sociology of science and technology, sociology of the built environment, gender and development, and laboratory/ethnographic studies. In 2007, she was awarded the Outstanding Young Scientist in the field of Sociology, National Academy of Science and Technology (Philippines). Dr. Saloma-Akpedonu is currently Project Director of two projects: “Preserving and Promoting Philippine Architectural Heritage” with the Society for the Preservation of Philippine Culture, Inc. and Institute of Philippine Culture and “The Nature of Social Change in the Philippines” with the Ateneo de Manila University. |
